  • I’ll retain the copyrights of the winning design.
  • ALL SUBMISSIONS should have an explicit GNU General Public License license or an equivalent.
  • I repeat, the copyrights of ONLY THE WINNING design will be mine (credit will be given though)
  • WordPress and WordPress only (version 2.9)
  • Design must be original (as in unique, as in NOT copying a design) and submitted only to this competition.
  • More than one submission per designer allowed. However only one reward will be granted.
  • Open to the people residing in the country of Lebanon ONLY! (Not Lebanon Ohio or some street somewhere called Lebanon)
  • You can use plugins.
  • You can use JS frameworks.
  • You can use a WordPress Theme Framework.
  • No porn or offensive materials (that includes politics).
  • You should submit a:  PSD file of the original artwork, the CSS files, php files if any modding occurred.
  • Valid XHTML 1.0

    • All designs must be submitted (emailed) before Sunday 31st of January 2010 at 11:59pm to:  f i s h y i d e a  *at*  g m a i l _dot_ c0m designers will be announced BY February 10th 2010. The winner will be contacted by email so he/she/it can pick up the tablet.

    I am going to assume that everyone knows how to skin a WordPress theme. However, I am gonna cut you some slack and point you to Divine Project it’s a photoshop plugin that helps you skin some WordPress themes (windows only and that sucks big time).

    Some guidelines:

    1. Usability usability usability.
    2. Search box is mandatory.
    3. Next/Previous posts are mandatory.
    4. A 300×250 space for banners.
    5. Home About Contact RSS page
    6. Color scheme, the one right now is preferred (I am being a “customer”) however, I am open to suggestions.
    7. Research, research, research.
    8. Surprise me.
    9. The logo is not a logo, feel free to do whatever you want.

    In the unfortunate event of NOT having more than one submission by different designers, I’ll have the right to call the competition off and the designer will keep the full rights to his designs (or if no design really blew my mind) and the tablet will go on elmazad.

    Now, the winning criteria:

    1. Usability and functionality 50%
    2. Creativity/Originality 25%
    3. The voices inside my head 25%

    In the event of the voices going on strike, I’ll post the designs online for the visitors to vote.

    The award is a USED (but good as new) Intuos3 6×11 tablet with a pen and paintbrush (as i mentioned in my previous post, it is of no use to me anymore and I am sure someone else can benefit from it but I am not gonna just give it away)

    EDIT: and you “might” get a job as a Junior Graphic Designer who’s fluent in CSS/HTML and wants a full time job at Rezayat Group in Jal el Dib, Lebanon (Maya Zankoul is offering this opportunity teehee!)

    There you have it folks, a Wacom tablet, and a job!
